Description
Quantity Surveyor – Specialising in Major Repairs, Voids, Legal Disrepair & Maintenance Frameworks
£60k - £75k plus package
Hertfordshire / London

About the Company

Our client, a leader in the UK's Social Housing sector, works in partnership with top-tier Social Housing Contractors to reshape the landscape of residential housing. They focus on improving living standards through Planned Maintenance and Housing Association Frameworks across the South East.

The company holds key contracts with NHMF, Fusion 21, and several prominent housing associations. Their goal is to enhance housing quality through expert financial oversight of refurbishments, complex disrepair cases, major repairs, and long-term maintenance programmes. Sustainability, net zero carbon, and passive fire safety compliance are embedded in their delivery approach.

The Opportunity

Due to continued expansion and recent contract wins, our client is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for a newly awarded Major Repairs contract with a London council, alongside involvement across voids, legal disrepair, and ongoing maintenance frameworks.

This is a hands-on role managing a wide range of works — from reactive and planned repairs to significant refurbishment projects — with values typically ranging from £10k to £600k.

As the Quantity Surveyor, You Will:
  • Take commercial lead on a large-scale Major Repairs council contract, delivering cost control across multiple project streams.
  • Oversee valuations, both upstream and downstream, in line with contract requirements.
  • Manage procurement, sub-contractor engagement, and full cost reporting cycles.
  • Prepare and track Site Change Orders (SCOs) and manage cost variations effectively.
  • Operate confidently using both NHF Schedule of Rates and bespoke pricing approaches.
  • Apply your commercial insight to projects covering external works, roofing, and full property refurbishments.
  • Use IT systems and Excel-based tools for commercial reporting, forecasting, and cost reconciliation.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • Proven commercial experience within social housing frameworks and public sector repair programmes.
  • Ideally worked across both main contractor and subcontractor roles.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills with a proactive approach to commercial management.
